Spiritual Gifts

~Authenticity with God~

“…But each of you has your own gift from God.” 1 Corinthians 7:7b

If I had to choose an area of my relationship with God that really helped me see myself, set me apart to who God created me to be and helped me experience God at a deeper level, it would be knowing my spiritual gifts.

Once I understood and identified the gifts that God specifically gave to me, it gave clarity and helped me to see the vision God had for my life.

He gave me purpose.

God gave me a unique cocktail of gifts specifically for me to fulfill the dreams and plans He laid on my life.

Man, did this make me feel special.

God designed a plan for me- just for me. I am the only one who can carry out this plan.

The same is for you- God designed you a plan and designed your giftings, abilities and capabilities to carry out a unique plan that no one else can carry out but you.

God designs custom plans.

It is not a one shoe fits all, but specifically to each and every one of us.

I think it is important for us to know what God has instilled in us, our gifts and how we are to carry them out.

I think Spiritual Gifts are important not only for us to have a deeper appreciation for God and what He wants to do in our lives, but it is also important to give us purpose in carrying out these gifts as a part of our mission to help others.

We are created to be in relationship with others, God created us to be in community and to encourage and lift each other up. Our gifts help us do that.

“When you know and understand the gifts that God has given you, you will discover a renewed sense of purpose and excitement as you partner with Him and bless others.” C. Peter Wagner

The Bible speaks about Spiritual Gifts at length and here is a few little snippets of wisdom around gifts:

- “Do not neglect your gift.” 1 Timothy 4:14a

- “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.” Romans 12:6-8

- “There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.” 1 Corinthians 12:6

- “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” 1 Corinthians 12:27

- “Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 14:1
